Symposium Date: Monday July 1, 2021 until Sunday July 25, 2021.
June 30, 2021 – Arrival of symposium
participants.
July 01, 2021 – Opening ceremony of the
symposium at Horice Town Hall. – During the symposium, cultural events, trips or excursions will be arranged for, if the sculptors will be interested in such events.
July 23, 2021 – End of works.
July 24, 2021 – Sculptures will be transported
from Horice to Hradec Kralove and installed here.
July 25, 2021 – First night ceremony on
Sculptor’s Embankment in Hradec Kralove.
July 26, 2021 – Final day, departure of
symposium members.
Organizational notes regarding the symposium:
- The symposium is held in Horice, Czech republic. The works will be done at the St. Joseph quarry (It is a deserted quarry located in a forest).
- Four sculptors are invited to the symposium. (They can bring their company or fellow-workers with them.)
- Sculptors will stay at the Kralovsky dvur hotel on the main square in Horice.
- A car will be available for sculptors. It can be used for transportation from the hotel to the quarry (1.6 km) or for personal purposes.
- A local assistant will be available to each sculptor.
- All essential tools, pneumatic and electric equipment, crane and other pieces of equipment will be available at the quarry. There is a shelter for the tools and equipment there, and there is also a wooden cabin which can be used for cooking, eating and rest, etc.
- An English speaking assistant will be available to the symposium participants during the whole symposium.
- Sculptures made during the symposium will be installed and exhibited in Hradec Kralove for at least a year. They will be located on the Sculptors’ Embankment in Hradec Kralove. Then the sculptures will be transported back to Horice and permanently installed in St. Joseph Sculptors’ Park. Installation of the sculptures will be discussed and agreed on with the architect in charge of the overall composition of the Sculptors’ Park.

Symposium Terms and Conditions:
- Each symposium participant will create one sculpture designed by him or herself. The symposium board does not determine or decide about the art or concept of the sculpture; that is up to the artist.
- Local “Horice sandstone” will be used. Sculptors must define their requirements regarding the size of the stone (approximately 3 m2) in advance, and agree on it with the organizer.
- A donation agreement will be signed, and the sculptures will be donated to the organizer of the symposium, i.e. the Horice Sculptor’s Symposium Civic Association. The recipient of the donation will be obliged to never sell the sculpture and that the sculpture will be permanently installed in the Sculptor’s Park in Horice.
- Each symposium participant will receive 2,000 euros (50% upon arrival to Horice, and 50% after the sculpture is finished).
- The organizer of the symposium will pay for transportation costs from the place of residence of the sculptor to Horice and back. The organizer will not cover travel expenses for people accompanying the sculptor.
- The organizer of the symposium will cover hotel accommodation including breakfast, and will also cover the costs of a party held by the symposium. The organizer does cover accommodation for people accompanying the sculptor. Apart from the breakfast, the sculptors pay for their food from the grant money they will receive upon arrival.
- Symposium participants must arrange for their injury insurance.
